Can I take my crossbow with me to New Zealand?

I'm going to New Zealand for at least the summer and was wondering if anyone knows whether or not I can take my crossbow with me? I read about importing firearms but I was wondering if the laws are different since it is not a firearm. Any information is greatly appreciated!
