Phone troubles with crush?

So, I talk to my crush on the phone alot.. but our convos just end up us just sitting there on the phone saying NOTHING. its like.. "umm. yeah like".. the whole time. and hes so calm, and mellow on the phone. But then in real life, u cant get him to shut up , and hes funny and everything. but.. i think he is like this with everyone? I just dont know what to say, i try and be like " yeahh soo.. last night was fun" or something like that.. HELP?
